Dr. Renee Markels, PT, DPT
Renee believes everyone deserves access to care that helps them feel empowered, supported, and better in their bodies. She is committed to creating a safe, inclusive space where patients can work toward their goals and return to the activities they love. She especially enjoys treating urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and low back pain.
Her passion for pelvic health took root before PT school, while working as a physical therapy aide at Origin, where she witnessed firsthand the profound impact pelvic floor therapy can have on patients' lives. That experience shaped her understanding of how much accessible, patient-centered care is needed and set her on the path to becoming a physical therapist.
A San Francisco native, Renee earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from San Diego State University and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Drexel University. While in PT school, she pursued pelvic health elective coursework and completed a combined pelvic and orthopedic clinical rotation in Philadelphia, and she continues to expand her knowledge through ongoing coursework with the APTA Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. She is thrilled to return to Origin as a physical therapist.
Outside the clinic, Renee enjoys going for long walks, hot yoga, shopping for vintage clothes, and trying every new restaurant in SF.
