Dr. Lauren Summerton, PT, DPT
Lauren was born and raised in New Jersey and has had a life-long interest in health and wellness. While a student at Rutgers University she became a personal trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Lauren then completed her doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami where she was first introduced to pelvic floor physical therapy. Her career began at a large academic hospital in Philadelphia but she decided to devote her career to becoming a pelvic health care practitioner after treating many patients including those with pelvic floor dysfunction, patients who are in post-partum status, and patients following gender affirming surgery.
Lauren is excited about partnering with her patients on their healing and wellness journeys whether recovering from an injury, throughout pregnancy, returning to activity post-partum or dealing with bladder/bowel/sexual dysfunction. She believes in meeting individuals where they are and supporting women throughout their lifetimes, at all ages and levels of activity.
She believes strongly in elevating public awareness of pelvic health, and her dream is to see pelvic floor physical therapy become an integral part of the standard of care for post-partum women and widely available for any person who can benefit from this type of therapy.
Outside of her clinical practice, Lauren loves non-competitive running, salsa dancing, going to group fitness classes and game nights with her family and friends.
