Origin's reception in Los Angeles

Introducing our new home for women's health physical therapy in Los Angeles

Supporting more women in Southern California through every stage of life

We’re excited to announce that after a decade in our Santa Monica location, our team at Origin has found a beautiful new home! Bigger, better, and only a mile away from our former space.

Our new location means a larger space for safe treatment, greater availability, and more women’s health experts to help you feel your best through every stage of life.

About the space & design

We partnered with Los Angeles based architecture firm Standard to bring our vision to life. It was important for us to create a space that makes our clients feel welcome and safe, part of a community, and that elevates the important work they are doing for their health and wellbeing.

As Standard explains:

“We needed to create a minimal intervention that maximized wellness. We looked at what we could work with in the space: high ceilings, natural north light, oak flooring; and created an airy, warm, welcoming environment that made the most out of these qualities. Our approach uses materiality, light, and rhythm to balance and complement what we liked about the existing space.”

LA-based artist Allison Kunath created a site-specific mural for the space called Crescere, or growth in Latin, that speaks to our “inner architecture” and the personal journeys we experience when building our identities over time.

In a post-COVID future, we’re excited to open up our space for community events. Standard explains:

Inspired by Lilly Reich’s exhibition designs of the 1920s, we designed the curved, veil-like curtain partition to separate the physical therapy area from the reception. It brings a softness to the experience, and establishes a level of privacy while maintaining a visual connection between reception and therapy. The curtain can be pulled back so that the entire space can be used for events - once the world can experience events again.

We also have six private treatment rooms for pelvic floor physical therapy, with prints by a diverse set of women artists.

What's next for Origin?

Over the years, the support of our community has pushed Origin to grow and expand our services to address the nationwide need for women’s health PT. It’s been humbling to continue to grow in the midst of the pandemic and speaks to the essential need for women’s health physical therapy. We will continue to offer telehealth for the years to come and will be opening up additional locations when the time is right.

We’re excited to embark on this new phase in our journey with a growing team and even more ways to help you feel your best.‍‍‍
