Banaka is originally from Lawrence, Kansas, and now lives in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biology while competing as a Division I volleyball player for four years, graduating cum laude in 2010. She went on to receive her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2015.Her passion for pelvic health grew from her own personal experiences with women’s health challenges, particularly after becoming a mother of two. Banaka began her career in general orthopedics and, over time, found her calling in women’s health. She enjoys connecting with her community and being part of a collaborative, patient-focused team.

Her care philosophy centers on providing personalized, evidence-based treatment designed around each patient’s unique goals. She strives to empower her patients with the knowledge and tools they need to return to the activities they love and achieve lasting success.As an orthopedic and pelvic floor physical therapist, Banaka treats a wide range of conditions, with particular expertise in incontinence, pelvic pain, painful intercourse, pregnancy and postpartum care, constipation, prolapse, back and hip pain.Outside of the clinic, Banaka loves spending time with her husband and their two young boys. She can often be found in the gym or on long walks while listening to music or podcasts. She also enjoys getting lost in a good book, and never passes up dessert!
