She/Her

Physical Therapist

Austin, TX

Bio

Originally from North Carolina, April graduated from Winston Salem State University School of Physical Therapy. She returned to her alma mater in 2020 and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She gained a passion for women’s health after a wonderful pregnancy and delivery of her first child. Her empowering birth experience turned into a desire to help other women have empowering birth experiences and to help change the culture around pregnancy and birth from fear and pain to more positivity of what can be. April embraces the holistic care and the importance of having a team approach addressing the mind, body, and spirit for a full recovery.

April began practicing in 2006. After many years as a physical therapist practicing in various settings, becoming specialized in pregnancy and postpartum was a natural evolution in her career, blending her physical therapy training to help in the birthing world. April has received her Certification of Achievement in Pregnancy and Postpartum (CAPP-OB) from the American Physical Therapy Association. She has also trained as a doula and enjoys teaching childbirth classes. Serving as a labor support professional has created a special blending of her physical therapy expertise with her training in the birth process.

Her clinical experience in orthopedic and pediatric physical therapy has helped her treat patients with often overlooked or missed pelvic floor dysfunction. She enjoys treating runner’s and assessing the biomechanics of movement and tailoring exercises unique to that individual. She has a passion for helping women return to run safely in postpartum. She enjoys learning and is always looking for the next course that will help her assist patient’s in meeting their goals.

April has enjoyed guest lecturing at Texas State University and serving as a clinical instructor to help inspire the next generation of physical therapists. She enjoys working with other therapists and collaborating to improve patient outcomes. When she is not educating and empowering patients to know their full potential, she is at home in Austin, Texas enjoying time with her family, outdoor activities, running, traveling, and looking for the next best taco spot.
